National Fertilizers Limited (NFL)

1. Introduction:

NFL, a Schedule ‘A’ & a Mini Ratna (Category-I) Company, having its registered office at New Delhi was incorporated on 23rdAugust 1974. Its Corporate Office is at NOIDA (U.P). It has an authorized capital of Rs. 1000 crore and a paid up capital of Rs. 490.58 crore out of which Government of India’s share is 74.71 % and 25.29 % is held by financial institutions & others.

2. Vision & Mission:

The company has a Vision i.e. “to be a leading Indian company in fertilizers and beyond with commitment to all stakeholders” and a Mission “to be a dynamic organization committed to serve the farming community and other customers to their satisfaction through timely supply of fertilizers and other products & services; continually striving to achieve the highest standards in quality, safety, ethics, professionalism, energy conservation with a concern for ecology and maximizing returns to stakeholders”.

5. Performance Highlights

I. The company has five gas based Urea manufacturing plants with an annual installed capacity of 35.68 LMT. The Company, during financial year 2020-21registereda total Urea Production of 37.23 LMT with an overall capacity utilization of 109.1% (w.r.t reassessed capacity of 32.31 LMT) against previous year production of 37.99 LMT. During current year, the cumulative production of Urea for the period from April ~ October 2022was22.50 LMT (119.4%) against corresponding period last year (CPLY) of 20.23 LMT. 1.

II. The company is in to marketing of its own produced fertilizers as well as trading of RFCL Urea and imported fertilizers along with other agro products through its PAN India dealers’ network. During 2021-22, the company sale of Fertilizers was equivalent to of 54.60 LMT against 59.37 LMT previous year 2020-21. During current year, the cumulative sale of fertilizers from April ~ October’ 2022 was 36.17LMT against corresponding period last year (CPLY) of 29.23 LMT. 1.

III. The company has a Bio-Fertilizers plant at Vijaipur with an annual capacity of 700 MT where itmanufactures 4 strains of Bio Fertilizers (Solid & Liquid). During 2021-22, the company produced ever highest Bio Fertilizers (Solid & Liquid) of 704MT against CPLY of 684 MT.

IV. The Company has also set up a Bentonite Sulphur plant at its Panipat Unit and during 2021-22 produced ever highest 17076 MT of Bentonite Sulphur against CPLY of 14072 MT.

V. The company is engaged in manufacturing of Ammonia based Industrial products namely Nitric Acid, Ammonium Nitrate, Sodium Nitrate and Nitrite at its Nangal Unit. During the year 2021-22, Company registered a production of Industrial products to the tune of 109973MT. The company is presently having 6 static and 2 mobile soil testing laboratories. Using these soil testing labs, the company is undertaking soil tests for macro & micro nutrients and also providing soil health cards to the farmers to enhance balanced use of fertilizers. Apart from this, the company is also having 100 Kisan Suvidha Kendras (KSKs) to provide all agro products and services to the farmers under single window concept.

9. Sustainable Development (SD):

I. NFL has taken various initiatives in adopting best practices for Environment Management, Energy Conservation and Social Upliftment leading to sustainable development.

II. Use of cleaner and greener fuel i.e. Natural Gas as feed and fuel in NFL Plants.

III. One of the major milestones achieved by NFL in this direction is switchover of all its fuel oil feedstock plants at Nangal, Panipat and Bathinda, to Natural Gas (NG), the cleaner and energy efficient fuel. With this initiative, Company’s 100% Urea production is now based on gas as feedstock. In addition to above, specific energy consumption has also come down by more than 20 %.

IV. NFL has also switched over the support fuel in the coal fired boilers at Panipat, Bathinda Nangal to NG from fuel oil. This has eliminated use of fuel oil besides improving reliability and reducing carbon footprints.

V. NFL has installed GTG (Gas Turbo Generator) along with Heat Recovery Steam Generation (HRSG) at Nangal, Bathinda & Panipat Units. The GTG-HRSG projects have started its commercial operation in all the three Units in FY 2021-22. After successful commissioning of GTG-HRSGs, these Units are now operating with reduced energy consumption and with lower CO2 emission.

VI. 100 KW Solar Power Plant at Corporate Office has been commissioned in August’ 2014 is running satisfactorily. Also, 90 KW Solar Power Plant at Bathinda Unit has been installed in December 2014.

VII. All conventional lights at Units and Corporate Office have been replaced with LED lights. Further to ensure affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for the community, solar street lights have been installed in nearby villages of all NFL Units.

III. To increase the subsoil water level,Manufacturing Units of NFL have installed Rainwater Harvesting.

IV. Development of Township at Vijaipur as Mini Smart City: Under new development model as per directives of the Hon’ble PM during CPSEs Conclave 2018, NFL has converted its Vijaipur Township into a mini Smart City. In order to build mini smart city at Vijaipur Unit, the company is currently undertaking various activities such as Zero Water discharge, Modern Sewage System, Solid Waste Management System, Rain Water Harvesting System, CCTVs, High Speed Wi-Fi, LED Lighting etc.

9. V. NFL is committed to Government of India's dream of Swachh Bharat Mission by sale of 26647 MT of city compost sourced from manufacturers located in various states during the FY 2021-22. Beside this Vijaipur Unit of NFL produces compost from the bio-degradable waste and is being used as environment friendly manure with in the Unit premises in horticulture. City Compost is a soil conditioner which is produced out of bio-degradable waste. Compost from city garbage would not only provide carbon and primary/secondary nutrients to soil but also help in keeping the city clean. Use of City Compost is also undertaken by NFLin the adopted villages in the states of Haryana and Madhya Pradesh. Company is further working to increase trading business in this field. 10. Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) The Company has been awarded Very Good rating for the year 2020-21and for the year 2021-22 evaluation is pending. 11. Awards Accolades received during 2021-22

I. “Occupational Health and Safety Gold Award” by Grow Care India, New Delhi won by Vijaipur Unit in the month of June 2021. November 2020

II. Vijaipur Unit has been declared winner of “Green Tech Effective Safety Culture Award-2021” and “Greentech Energy Conservation Award 2021” in the month of July’2021. III. NFL received PRCI award for House Journal, Annual Report, Arts Campaign, Films and Covid Management.

IV. NFL, Nangal Unit won Gold Award for Outstanding efforts in Environment Improvement from Hon’ble Minister of Forest & Environment, Uttarakhand.

V. NFL, Nangal Unit has received First Prize in Rajbhasha. The Award was presented to Unit Head Sh. S.K. Srivastava, CGM by Rajbhasha Karynavan Samiti, Rupnagar.

VI. NFL, Bathinda Unit won Award for exceptional efforts in Environment Management from Greentech Foundation during

8th CSR India Summit & Awards.

VII. NFL, Corporate Office, Noida received award for innovative CSR initiatives from Greentech Foundation during 8th CSR India Summit & Awards.

VIII. Town Official Language implementation Committee awarded third prize to NFL Panipat Unit for exemplary work in Hindi Language.

IX. NFL Vijaipur Unit received "PLATINUM HSE AWARD 2020-21" from National Safety Council, MP Chapter.

X. NFL Bathinda Unit has been declared as the Winner of 20th Annual Greentech Safety India Award 2021 for outstanding achievements in Safety Excellence category for the year 2021.

XI. NFL, Vijaipur Unit has been selected for "Certificate of Appreciation" for NSCI Safety Awards-2021 in Manufacturing Sector.

XII. NFL, Bathinda Unit has been selected for Group B Manufacturing of Chemical Category Award of "4th level Prashansa Patra" for NSCI Safety Awards-2021.

XIII. NFL, Nangal Unit has been selected for "Certificate of Appreciation" for NSCI Safety Awards-2021 in Manufacturing Sector.
